Dr. Jeri Watts is originally from the Lynchburg area, growing up first on a farm in the Bedford area, then moving to the city itself.

Prior to joining the Lynchburg College faculty in 2006, Dr. Watts worked in the Lexington City Schools division for twenty-seven years. Among her roles were Title I teacher (reading specialist) and coordinator and instructional support teacher.

Professional Interests

Dr. Watts’ primary interest is in the reading/writing connection. She has published a number of children’s books, including Kizzy Ann Stamps, Sarmandi, and Keepers, as well as short stories in small literary journals.
