The Counselor Education program in the School of Education and Human Development and Graduate Studies at Lynchburg College invites applications for a full-time assistant professor tenure-track position beginning August 2012. The Counselor Education program is CACREP accredited and offers Master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. Responsibilities include teaching core graduate counseling courses as well as specialized Clinical Mental Health Counseling courses, supervising student clinical practice, and participating in program management. The candidate selected for this position will engage in scholarly and service activities consistent with the requirements of the School of Education and Human Development, collaborate with local community agencies, and actively pursue involvement in professional counseling organizations at the regional, state, and national levels.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program is required. Evidence of strong potential for excellence in college teaching is needed, while experience in teaching graduate-level counseling and related courses is preferred. Desired qualifications include professional counselor licensure or licensure eligibility, demonstrated experience working with diverse populations, and evidence of service and scholarship in the field. Must successfully pass a background check.
