Assistant/Associate
Professor of Physical Therapy - Biomechanic
Lynchburg
College seeks a dynamic professor to join our team of faculty devoted to
student-centered instruction in our new DPT program. Housed within the School
of Health Sciences and Human Performance at Lynchburg College in Virginia, the
DPT curriculum features an innovative hybrid model of instruction, and prepares
physical therapists who will become leaders in their personal and professional
lives. The appointment is a full-time (12 month) position to begin July 1, 2010,
teaching topics of kinesiology/biomechanics in physical therapy. Tenure or
Clinical tracks are available, and will be matched to the applicant’s
experience and education. Applicants with ABPTS Specialty Certification would
be especially encouraged to apply.
Successful
candidates will possess the following qualifications:

Earned
terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, or equivalent) in
Physical Therapy or related discipline. Persons nearing completion of terminal
degree (ABD Status) will be considered.

Licensed
or eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in the Commonwealth of
Virginia.
·
Successfully
pass a background check.
·
Experience
in higher education instruction and/or research.
·
Demonstrated
ability to design and conduct collaborative research.
·
Member
of the American Physical Therapy
Association.
·
Able
to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and
peers.
Preferred
qualifications of the candidate include:
·
ABPTS
certification in field of specialty.
·
Prior
teaching experiences in a physical therapist academic
program.
·
Earned
doctoral degree or enrolled in or desire to pursue doctoral
studies.
·
Knowledge
of educational, management, and adult learning theory and
principles.
·
Active
in clinical practice, especially as applicable to
clinical education.
·
Active
in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.

exclusively to physical therapy research. Salary and rank are commensurate with
experience.
