Assistant Professor of Music
The
School of Communication and the Arts at Lynchburg College invites applications
for a tenure-track faculty appointment of Assistant Professor of Music
effective August 2010.
The
Assistant Professor will provide leadership in all aspects of music education;
teach undergraduate courses including Elementary and Secondary Methods and
Choral Methods; as well as supervision of field experience and student
teaching. Additional teaching responsibilities
include, but are not limited to Aural Skills (freshman/sophomore), group piano
(freshman/sophomore), and secondary area of applied instruction. Participation in the intellectual and service
life of the College is expected. Position is
contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
The
doctorate in Music Education is required to achieve tenure and Assistant
Professor ranking; ABD may be considered.
Qualified candidates should have a minimum of three years successful
K-12 school music experience; knowledge of current trends in
instrumental/vocal music education;
evidence of keyboard facility; emerging record of scholarship in music
education; active in professional organizations and as
presenter/clinician/guest conductor; and ability to work with K-12 and private music
teachers.
